Prevalence of Diabetes retinopathy in Diabetess with macrovascular complications
Abstract
The study was aimed to investigate the prevalence of macrovascular complications in Diabetes patients. Among a total of 100 out patients screened 44 patients were positive for Diabetes retinopathy and 56 patients were negative for retinopathy. Sixteen cases were in the pediatric age group 0-10 yrs with Juvenile Diabetes mellitus (JDM) and two of the JDM cases were with Diabetes retinopathy. In the 10-20 yrs age group, 27 of the individuals amongst the 66 diabetes mellitus patients had retinopathy. In the 20-30 yrs age group, 18 cases had diabetes mellitus and 15 of them had Diabetes retinopathy. The Prevalence of diabetes retinopathy is very common and a positive association is observed in the incidence of macrovascular complications and Diabetes retinopathy in the study population.
